LACP 2022 Exposure Weekend – Portfolio Reviews

I am very honored to again join the Los Angeles Center for Photography (LACP) Exposure Weekend team early next year for an intensive series of portfolio reviews. The actual reviews will occur over the extended weekend of January 27 – 30th, 2022. A great way to start the new year.

Registration will open on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 9am PST.

Same as last year’s LACP Exposure Weekend, due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, this will also be a virtual event utilizing Zoom. As a virtual event, this is a double edge sword; the good news is that the travel costs are avoided for everyone, more reviewers can participate and this makes it possible to participate from very far away. The bad news is there is little opportunity to spend time with the reviewers and participants actually one-to-one, as well as networking and there is something about seeing physical prints. All in all, considering the circumstances, I think that this is a great compromise, while I am still looking forward to the time (2023?) when we return to doing this extended weekend in-person.

Personally, what I have found that I have been helpful during portfolio reviews is discussing photographic projects (and series), including editing and sequencing, whether the project is intended to be published or not. There are aspects of a photographic project that are unique versus a collection of singular images that are not defined by, or investigating a concept or idea.

$340 ($300 Members) for 5 reviews

Regular Pricing (after November 23, 2021)
$540 ($500 Members) for 8 reviews
$360 ($320 Members) for 5 reviews

Single Reviews (if available) will be posted in January, 2022

From past experience, these are usually intense but really productive opportunities to meet with various professionals, from publishing (like me), to galleries’, and curators. It just might help push your career to the next step forward. This will be my sixth year participating in this event and I have had an opportunity to see some really stunning artwork. So I am pretty hyped to participate, as I hope you are too.
