
Thomas D. Mangelsen, a Nebraska native, is recognized as one of the world’s premier nature photographers. With a background in wildlife biology, Mangelsen has dedicated his work to documenting wild lands and creatures around the world, bringing attention to the need for conservation and protection of these animals and their natural environment. In recognition of this work, he has been the BBC’s “Wildlife Photographer of the Year,” has received the Royal Photographic Society’s Honorary Fellowship (2002), and was called “One of the 100 Most Important People in Photography” by American Photo magazine (2005). Jane Goodall chose him as one of her “Heroes of the Animal Planet.” He is a founding fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers and co-founder of The Cougar Fund, a nonprofit devoted to the preservation of cougars throughout the Americas.
