Democracy – Your Voice. Your Photo.
The Annenberg Space for Photography is introducing The Democracy Photo Challenge. http://www.annenbergspaceforphotography.org/
Now through July 28, amateur and professional photographers from across the globe are invited to submit digital photographs that complete the phrase “Democracy is…” for the Democracy Photo Challenge, a competition developed by a unique public-private partnership.
Created to help share ideas and knowledge around the world, the Democracy Photo Challenge will be judged by an independent jury and online public voting.
Later this year, twelve winners will have their photographs exhibited at the United Nations in New York as well as at galleries in New York and Los Angeles.
The independent jury co-chaired by documentary photographer Phil Borges, International Center of Photography director Willis Hartshorn and Academy Award-winning director Louie Psihoyos will announce 36 finalists on August 19. Between August 19 and August 26, the winners will be selected via online voting by the general public. Two winners from each of six geographic regions will be announced on the United Nations’ International Day of Democracy, September 15.
We encourage you to submit photographs, view current entries and let others know about this exciting new addition to the “Democracy is…” global conversation. For information, please visit the Democracy Photo Challenge website.
