Photographer Paul Blieden will have 7 photos on exhibit at the Manhattan Beach Creative Arts Center in a show called Local Visions.
The show runs from September 11 through October 3, 2009 with an opening reception on Friday, September 11 at 7 pm
Paul’s photographic vision is expressed in the following statement:
Everywhere I look I see photographs…I see them in 35mm format…it’s sometimes quite disconcerting, but that is the reality…I see photographs all the time…
Everyplace I look I see textures and colors, for it abounds in all organic and inorganic entities. I attempt to capture these features and to preserve them in photographic images….some of these textures will pass from view quickly as with the peeling eucalyptus tree bark, never to be seen again in the same form….and some take years to change as with the texture found on the walls of an abandoned sugar mill in Maui.
Now captured as a photographic images these textures will survive in the form as seen in the instance I pressed the shutter.
That’s what I do as a photographer: I capture moments in time so that I and others can view those moments.
