Palm Springs Photo Festival – Update

The PSPF festival has some really great news, which is going to be a big improvement on the last years scattered seminar location mess. They have a new sponsor, the Palm Springs Hyatt Regency and the All Suite resort will be Attendee Headquarters for the festival and the venue for all of the seminars and technical consultations. Wonderful improvement!!

Please see their website at for complete information. I think that they have a fabulous program for next year’s event that includes workshops with Duane Michals, Steve McCurry, Larry Fink, Todd Hido, Keith Carter, Frank Ockenfels III, Jay Dusard, Greg Gorman, John Paul Caponigro, Debbie Fleming Caffery & Juergen Nogai. We’ll again present our unique 2-day workshop, Beyond the Softbox: A Cinematic Lighting Approach for Still Photography.

The Seminars will include special courses in Understanding Color Spaces, Digital Image Optimization with Mac Holbert, Secrets of an Expert Hollywood Retoucher, Calibration & Profiling, Intermediate & Advanced classes in using Photoshop & Lightroom, The D.A.M. (Digital Asset Management) seminar, The Photographic Book, How to Get Your Photo Book Published, Using Aperture, Photography & the Internet, Advocacy & Your Camera, Storytelling with the new Canon 5-D Mark II using Aperture and I-Photo and Mary Virginia Swanson’s Finding Your Audience.

They’ll be offering over 700 Portfolio Reviews – chances to present your work for critique and guidance to Creative Directors, Art Directors, Museum Curators, Gallery Directors, Art Buyers, Photo Editors, Educators, Photographers and more!

This year they have another innovation: Consultations with tech gurus and others who can help you one-on-one with career or technical issues.

As always, we’ll have great Evening Presentations, our daily Symposiums (The Business of Fine Art, PDN’s Emerging 30, The Editorial Photography Conference and Advocacy & the Arts) and two great parties complete with free wine tastings by several of California’s finest wine producers.

SUBMIT your slide show for a chance to win incredible prizes such as a Canon Pixma printer, great camera backpacks, Lensbabies, and the possibility of your work being shown to the entire Connect 09 audience in the Annenberg Theater of the Palm Springs Art Museum!

Connect 09 offers the opportunity to MEET top photographers, curators, art directors, educators and industry leaders in the spectacular desert environment of Palm Springs, California for this year’s Palm Springs Photo Festival.

SHOW your portfolios, STUDY with legendary photographers, ATTEND cutting-edge seminars / symposiums and enjoy outdoor evening projections by world-famous image makers. NETWORK with the master photographers, industry insiders and your contemporaries at nightly parties and ENJOY the warm Palm Springs weather.

Most importantly, they promise you won’t have more FUN at any other photo event! Walk away with a RENEWED PASSION for the art of image making.

They will also have some special deals at some of the local hotels, details should be out shortly.
