Portfolio Reviews at ReviewLA

Posted in Juried opportunities, Photo Art Business, Photographers, Photography by douglaspstockdale on September 20, 2008

I know it may seem early, but the registration for the Portfolio Reviews have just begun for ReviewLA, which coincides with PhotoLA, January 9-10, 2009 in Santa Monica, which are being coordinated by the Center (formerly The Santa Fe Center for Photography).

If you are interested, I highly recommend acting fast, as this registration fills up very quickly. Please check with the Center (using the hot link above) about who are the photo reviewers, as this is a dynamic list which is still changing.

If you are not familiar with a portfolio review and the process, I recommend that you read the account of my recent portfolio review that I particiapted in at the Palm Springs Photo Festival, found here.

The bottom line, you have 20 minutes with a single reviewer and you may just walk away with an incrediable experience that could really boost your fine art career or you may have made some long term contacts that help you on your creative development path.

But like they say about winning the lottery, you can’t win if you don’t buy a ticket. So perhaps now is the time to give it a try, but I do recommend that if you do start the process, be prepared to show a consistent and high quality body of work.

Update: I have also added a link to the Center’s Resource page, specificly for the Competitions, Grants and Juried opportunities page. A lot going on and like the Texas Photographic Society Resource page, this one is frequently updated as well. You can also toggle around and find another page that they have for photo/portfolio reviews;- )
